How can small choices help make a community kinder, fairer and more inclusive? Across four themed days, students explore caring for themselves, nature and community; fairness and access; gratitude; and allyship through sorting games, discussion, drawing and writing, card-making and bold advocacy posters. The project ends with students turning their ideas into action through messages such as “Clean water for all,” “Education is a right,” “Community matters” and “Respect nature,” followed by a gallery walk and mini-presentations. Designed for STEPS/MAPS classes as a 4-session project, 70 minutes per lesson. Curriculum connections: Social Studies, Language, Visual Arts and social-emotional learning, with a focus on community responsibility, justice, inclusion, expressing and supporting ideas, oral communication, writing for a purpose, collage, emphasis and visual messaging.
