Is it buzzy, brassy, smooth, loud or totally weird? Students become music reviewers as they explore instruments through listening, reading, discussion and descriptive writing, building toward their own playful YouTube-style instrument review. Along the way, they identify instrument characteristics, organize ideas, build vocabulary, support opinions with details and practise presenting clearly to an audience. Designed for Grades 2–3 as a 4-session project, 90 minutes per lesson, with shorter adapted GAINS and Summer editions. Curriculum connections: Language — Reading, Writing and Oral Communication, with a focus on reading for information, descriptive vocabulary, organizing ideas, expressing opinions and presenting to an audience; and Music, exploring timbre, instrument characteristics and listening/responding.
