Shhh… we’re baking a surprise cake for Mike the Microphone! Students journey from the farm to the market, kitchen and birthday party, gathering ingredients and solving playful challenges through singing, movement, storytelling and hands-on activities. Along the way, they build foundational vocabulary, early literacy skills, cooperation and confidence while helping pull off Mike’s big surprise. Designed for Kindergarten and GAINS classes as a 4- or 8-session project, approximately 45-50 minutes per lesson. Curriculum connections: Literacy, Music, Visual Arts, Dance/Movement and social-emotional learning, with a focus on oral vocabulary, phonological awareness, communication, creative expression, kindness and teamwork.
