When you first get a guitar it already comes with strings, but when it’s time to change the strings you are left to choose between a whole bunch of different options and gauges. We make it easy for you with this helpful guide on how to choose the right string for your guitar.

What kind of string do I get for my guitar?

Different guitars will require unique strings. For instance, a classical guitar is built to use nylon strings, which give it its iconic warm sound. On the other hand electric guitars have thin nickel wound steel strings while the regular acoustic guitars will need a different kind of steel string. Whichever guitar you choose, we have the right kind of strings for you.

What gauge of strings should I use on my acoustic?

Now that you’ve picked your acoustic guitar, it’s time to consider which gauge strings you are going to use. The gauge of the string tells us the size of the string and what kind of tone it’s going to produce. We offer 4 different gauges of acoustic strings. The Extra Light strings are great for beginners which allow for easy playing. The Custom Light strings are slightly thicker but are still easy to play and give off more sound and projection. The Light gauge is a great balance between sound and comfort, it has a great tone as well. The Medium gauge is our thickest gauge and it provides a strong and bold sound to your playing.
