It is important that practicality is taken into account when choosing a guitar. You want the guitar to be able to sit comfortably on your child’s lap without slipping or falling. It is also good to note how the right arm lays over the guitar. This way you can ensure that there is no difficulty in reaching the strings.
What Size Acoustic Guitar is Right for Me?
Guitar sizes are generally fitted by age and height. The ½ size guitar is a perfect starter guitar in fun colours for very young children aged 4-8.
The ¾ size guitar is slightly larger and great for for kids aged 9-11.
The folk guitar is a full-sized acoustic guitar with a shallower body. It's easier to play for smaller-framed adults and older children.
The full size acoustic guitar is well suited for adults and most teens.
